Headquarters of the Sea
The term “headquarters of the sea” is well deserved because it’s the ultimate spot for fresh oysters and seafood, perfectly situated by the water.
Located just outside Saint-Martin-de-Ré (and only 35 minutes by bike from Hôtel Le Sénéchal), it’s the perfect place to enjoy fresh oysters.
Brightly colored Fermob stools stand out against the azure blue sea. A palm tree here and there, some rattan umbrellas, and with a little imagination, you’ll feel like you’ve landed in the Caribbean. It’s a scene straight out of Instagram!
Take your time, order an amazing seafood platter, a chilled bottle of rosé, and just enjoy… it doesn’t get any better than this! The breathtaking view is the cherry on top.
They don’t take reservations here, and it’s usually not necessary. If it’s busy, just wait patiently and snap some Insta-worthy shots. Still no luck? Then try the nearby cousin, Ré Ostréa, closer to Saint-Martin-de-Ré.
A lovely bike trip from Saint-Martin-de-Ré to places like Ars-en-Ré, or the other way around. Right next to the bike path, you’ll easily spot this oyster bar.
Oysters to take away or enjoy on-site, beautiful platters full of fresh seafood. Everything is delicious.

At the top center of the island, just 10 minutes by bike from Saint-Martin-de-Ré.
