Just(e) a perfect pause
Restaurant Juste is located at the western tip of Île de Ré, at the foot of the Phare des Baleines lighthouse, we found this seafood restaurant with a lovely terrace.
A perfect stop to gather your strength before climbing the 257 steps of France’s second oldest lighthouse. Or not… you might just want to stay a little longer, ordering dish after dish and sampling the freshest seafood on the menu. That’s what happened to us.
It can sometimes be quite a challenge to find a quality restaurant in touristy areas like this.
However, this restaurant, located in a former museum, is an exception to that.
Super friendly staff. From the starter to the coffee, you’re treated with attention and served with a smile. Go for the local specialties, especially shellfish like oysters, mussels, or lobster, perhaps depending on the catch of the day.
You can easily get here by car, but it’s so much more enjoyable to take a bike ride along the smooth bike paths that cross through a beautiful, expansive nature reserve. Plus, you can park your bike for free in their private garden.
You’ll find Just nestled among ice cream parlors, other eateries, and a few souvenir shops — where, by the way, you can secretly find some really cute items.

You can easily park your car in this parking lot, just a 5-minute walk to the restaurant:
